UNITED offers extrusion, injection and conveyance feedscrews. Depending on the polymer flow environment, we offer the following base materials:

• 4340 HT carbon steel, hardened alloy-welded flights
• Nitralloy135m
• CPM 10v high chromium tool steel
• D-2 Tool Steel
• Hastelloy
• Inconel
• Stainless - 300/400 series

Full cap flight encapsulation is applied via a plasma transfer automated welding system. This allows the least amount of base material dilution into the hardened alloy, resulting in highly wear-resistant flight lands to maximize the life of the extruder screw.

Almost all feed screws are available for repair and rebuilding. The rebuild process allows for savings in raw materials and limits downtime; up to a 50% in savings as opposed to purchasing new. At UNITED, each screw is inspected, involving a variety of nondestructive metallurgy tests, to deem if it is fit to be rebuilt. It is important to maintain original equipment tolerance between the feedscrew and barrel to maximize performance.
